Jude Gold has performed, toured, and/or recorded with jam band legends JGB (formerly the Jerry Garcia Band), internationally renowned DJ/producer Miguel Migs/Petalpusher, the Oakland Symphony, DJ Spooky, 2 Live Crew, Eddie Money, George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars, David St. Hubbins (actor Michael McKean) of Spinal Tap, and fusion heroes BX3 (featuring electric bass icons Stu Hamm, Jeff Berlin, and Billy Sheehan). He is also an editor at Guitar Player magazine, where he has interviewed everyone from Slash, Coldplay, Pat Metheny, and AC/DC to Brad Paisley, Pat Martino, Larry Carlton, and Joe Perry.

Jude is now based in Hollywood, California, where he is Director of GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) and Los Angeles editor of Guitar Player Magazine. He got his musical education at the University of California at Berkeley, as well as in the clubs of the San Francisco Bay Area. He also picked up a thing or two in the dozens of one-on-one “playing” interviews he’s conducted with everyone from Steve Morse to Zakk Wylde to Robben Ford. Of all the rock licks he’s learned, though, he finds few if any more thrilling than those of Roth-era Van Halen. “They’re like roller coasters for your fingers,” says Jude. “Plus, they groove harder than probably any other licks in the history of hard rock.”
