Randy Monore

Randy Monroe is extremely talented and dynamic. He has a tall, strong demeanor with a sense of ease on the stage and under the lights. Combining high-level energy with passion, his powerful vocals captivate and connect with audiences everywhere; personifying the true front man role.

Randy came to the Bay Area in 1988. He joined the SF Bay area metal scene and formed such bands as The Laughing Dead, Paul Baloff’s Piranha, Ritual, Circle of Vengeance and Whose Religion and also made a vocal cameo on Defiance’s Beyond Recognition.

It was during this time that Randy worked vocally to master the style and savvy of David Lee Roth; as both a fan and admirer of the music from the early Van Halen. Self-taught, Randy was later mentored and classically trained by one of the SF Bay area’s master vocal instructors Claudine Spindt; whose credits include operatic performances with Pavarotti.

Through the mid-late ’90s, Randy teamed up with guitarist Terry Lauderdale and formed Acid Tongue. Their self-titled 5 song debut CD became quite popular in the SF Bay area with radio play of their original “Bolinas” and their remake of Sugarloaf’s “Green-Eyed Lady”. The band also performed Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love”; which was an audience favorite and the foreshadowing of events to come. The band later recorded a 5 song acoustic CD titled MLO. It was shortly thereafter in the summer of 1999, Randy and Terry were invited to sit in with a friend’s cover band and played a handful of Van Halen songs. “As the crowd became fanatic, HOT FOR TEACHER was born!”

Over the years, with the help and support of highly-skilled, professional musicians and friends, Randy has managed HFT into the national spotlight.

*Drummer Ed Studebaker and bassist Jesse Scott came aboard in 2005 & 2006 respectively and Jude Gold solidified the current line-up in 2007 when Terry stepped aside; only to later join Randy, Jesse and Ed in their other Tribute – RockSkool.

BTW: Randy also holds a Master of Science and is an award-winning, middle school Science Teacher and scientist. Further details are available at www.MonroeScienceEd.com.
