After 25 explosive years fronting Northern California’s premier Van Halen tribute band, HOT FOR TEACHER: The Van Halen Experience, lead vocalist and founding member Rockin’ Randy Monroe is turning the page on a new chapter.

Following nearly four decades on the West Coast and a quarter-century leading HFT with unmatched energy, showmanship, and passion, Randy is saying “Happy Trails” to California as he and his wife Amy make a meaningful move back East to be closer to family and support aging parents. The couple recently settled into their new home just south of Annapolis, Maryland—just a block off the Chesapeake Bay.

This heartfelt transition marks a temporary pause in HFT’s legendary run, as the band enters an indefinite hiatus. But make no mistake—this is not goodbye.

“We’re just taking a breather while life shifts a bit,” Randy says. “But the music lives on, and we’re looking forward to reunion shows—on both coasts and everything in between—when the time is right.”

Since its ERUPTION in 1999, HOT FOR TEACHER has earned its place as Northern California’s longest-running and most celebrated tribute to Van Halen, thrilling fans nationwide with powerhouse renditions of the band’s biggest hits from both the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar eras. Whether recreating Eddie Van Halen’s jaw-dropping guitar solos or channeling the iconic harmonies and bombastic stage presence that defined a generation, HOT FOR TEACHER consistently delivered the spirit of Van Halen night after night.

Even Michael Anthony himself once said:

“Give it up for HOT FOR TEACHER! These guys f’n ROCK!!!”

With more than two decades of epic performances, rotating lineups, and a fanbase that spans generations, the HOT FOR TEACHER family has always been about more than just music. It’s been a movement. A celebration. A place where the good times rolled—and kept rolling—for 25 years.

The band extends deep gratitude to every fan, venue, crew member, and fellow musician who has supported them over the years. From smoky bars to massive festival stages, HFT’s legacy is cemented in the memories made, the friendships formed, and the undeniable love for the music of Van Halen.

Reflecting on this journey, Randy shares:

“I’m eternally thankful to still be able to sing like I do. Nothing makes me happier than seeing others happy and having a great time.”

From the first power chord in ’99 to their most recent showstopping gigs, HOT FOR TEACHER has rocked it all—loud, proud, and with love.

So until the next gig…
Bumba Deeda and “Happy Trails” to ALL.
Stay tuned for updates on future reunion shows—and keep crankin’ that Van Halen!
